Point the camera at the side printed with the licence number and the expiry date. Keep the whole line inside the frame, light it evenly, and avoid glare. If the print is tiny, move closer.

Worn packaging, foreign-language boxes and unusual printing can still fail. When that happens just type it in — manual entry doesn't use scan credits and has no limits.

Only scanning uses credits. Everything else — manual entry, the expiry ledger, reminders, the daily push — keeps working exactly as before, free, forever.

If you scan a lot, credit packs are available in settings.

Check three things in order. First, iOS Settings › Notifications › Yaoli, to make sure notifications are allowed. Second, whether a Focus or Do Not Disturb mode is holding them back. Third, the reminder intervals and reminder time in the app's own settings.

Also worth knowing: reminders go out at the time you set each day, so nothing arrives before that hour.

Records are stored on the device. Restoring a full iOS backup — iCloud or from a computer — onto a new phone brings them across.

Yaoli has no account system, so there's no cloud sync separate from your system backup. Deleting the app wipes the local records for good, so make sure you have a backup first.

Open the app's settings and look for large-type mode under display and accessibility. It scales all the text up to a much more readable size and enlarges the tap targets to match.

Any iPhone with a rear camera. Which formats you get (4K·24 / 4K·30 / 4K·60) and which native focal lengths you can jump to depend on your phone's own cameras — the app only offers what your hardware actually supports.

The free version caps each clip at 15 seconds; everything else — the four stage presets, native focal lengths, brightness and white balance, tracking, locking, watermark — is included. Pro is a monthly auto-renewing subscription that removes the length limit, cancellable any time under iOS Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.

Washed out is usually Log. Log exists for colour grading afterwards, so it looks flat straight out of the camera — turn it off for everyday shooting.

For off colours, first switch off HDR video in settings; social platforms often re-process HDR and that's where the colour shifts come from. Then fine-tune with the stage white balance slider under the viewfinder: pull toward warm if the picture is too blue, toward cool if it's too yellow.

Once recording starts, the top-right button turns into a palm icon. Tap it and the whole screen locks; you need a long press to unlock. Hold the phone up for a full song without disturbing anything.

Because in a pitch-black venue, with your arm up and the lighting changing every bar, nobody has time to do the maths. The four presets already have the shutter ceiling, exposure compensation, white balance, metering and focus behaviour worked out. On the night you just swap cards and nudge two sliders.
